Assessment of Technology Application TEKS (3rd, 5th, 8th)
In 2006 the state began requiring that districts assess student progress with the Technology Applications TEKS in grades 3, 5, and 8. Last year, the state began requiring that assessment data of the Technology Applications TEKS for 8th grade students be reported. We now have a formal assessment that is given to all 8th grade students in the district. We have an opportunity to join a pilot that will allow us to do a free formal assessment of the Technology Application TEKS at grade 5.

====================The new student assessment is for fifth and eighth graders and has been specifically created to fully align with the Texas TEKS-TA. The beta assessment uses a blend of interactive, performance-based questions and multiple choice, knowledge-based questions. A Web page about the ISTE NETS-S aligned version of this assessment can be found here:
http://www.learning.com/21st-century-skills-assessment/index.htm
There is no charge to participate, and Learning.com will provide participating districts with reports of their assessment results. The test window has already opened.
Please note:
1. Live WebEx training will be provided for coordinators.
2. As this is a beta test that is being conducted for psychometric validation, the test itself is not psychometrically validated.
3. This assessment is in two parts and should be scheduled for two 45-50 min class periods.
4. The beta assessment does not include the portfolio project that the final, commercial version of the assessment will provide as an option.
5. Coordinators will not be able to create reports themselves, the reports will be generated by Learning.com and are expected to be available in March of 2009.
6. Following your reply, Learning.com will schedule training and will need a list of the schools that will need to be provisioned with the assessment.
